GoSign works well out of the box, but the default setup can make the signing experience feel more like GoSign's than your business's. The emails use GoSign's standard wording, the signing page doesn't show your logo, and the message people see after signing is generic.
The good news is that you can change all of this from the Personalization settings. You can add your company logo, rewrite the emails sent during the signing process, customize the completion message, and even send signers back to your website when they're finished.
It takes only a few minutes to set up, and it's worth doing before you start sending documents to customers or clients.

Where to Find Personalization Settings
To get started, go to Settings → Personalization. You'll find it under the Signing and Sending section in the sidebar.
The Personalization feature is available on the Unlock plan and above.
Once you're there, you'll see three main areas you can customize:
- Email Templates
- Company Logo
- Submission Form

Let's go through each one.
1. Customize Email Templates
GoSign sends three main emails as part of the signing process. You can customize the subject and body of each email, and you can also change the reply-to address for the document copy email.
This is a simple way to make the signing process feel more like your business.
Signature Request Email
This is the email a recipient receives when you've sent them a document to sign.
Default subject:
"You are invited to sign a document"
The default message is fairly generic:
Hi there,
You have been invited to sign the "{template.name}".
Review and Sign
Please contact us by replying to this email if you have any questions.
Thanks, {account.name}
You can rewrite this to match the way your business normally communicates with customers.
For example, you could change the opening, explain what the document is for, or add a short message telling the recipient what to expect.
Just make sure you keep the placeholders intact. Once you've finished editing the message, click SAVE.
Documents Copy Email
This email is sent when the signing process is complete and gives the recipient a copy of the signed document.
Default subject:
"Your document copy"
The default message includes a link to the completed document:
Hi there,
Please check the copy of your "{template.name}" in the email attachments. Alternatively, you can review and download your copy using the link below:
{template.name}
Thanks, {account.name}
You can edit the wording to match your brand and communication style.
There's also a Reply to field. This is useful if you want replies to go to a specific email address rather than the main email associated with your GoSign account.
Completed Notification Email
This email is sent to you or your team when someone has finished signing a document.
Default subject:
"{template.name} has been completed by {submission.submitters}"
The default message looks like this:
Hi,
"{template.name}" has been completed by {submission.submitters}
{submission.link}
You can change the subject and message if you want to make the notification clearer for your team.
There are also two useful options underneath:
- Attach documents: Adds the completed PDF to the notification email.
- Attach audit log PDF: Adds the document's audit log as a separate PDF.
If you regularly need to keep signed documents and their audit records, turning both options on can save you from having to go back into GoSign and download them later.
2. Add Your Company Logo
The next section is Company Logo.
Adding your logo is one of the quickest ways to make the signing experience feel like it's coming from your business.
How to add your logo
- Click the upload box.
- Select your logo file, or drag it into the box.
- Your logo will be added to the signing pages automatically.
There's no separate save button for this section.
Once uploaded, recipients will see your logo when they open the signing page.
3. Customize the Submission Form
The Submission Form section controls what happens after someone finishes signing.
There are three settings here that you can customize.
Completed Form Message
This is the message a signer sees immediately after completing a document.
To customize it:
- Click Completed Form Message to expand the section.
- Enter a Title, such as "All done!"
- Enter a Body, such as "Thanks for signing. You'll receive a copy by email shortly."
- Click SAVE.
Keep the message short and clear. The signer has already completed the document, so there's no need to give them a lot of information at this point.
Completed Form Redirect Button
Want to send people back to your website after they sign? You can do that with the Completed Form Redirect Button.
For example, you could send customers to your homepage, booking page, support page, or another relevant part of your website.
To set it up:
- Click Completed Form Redirect Button to expand the section.
- Enter the Button title, such as "Back to our site".
- Enter the Button URL where you want the signer to go.
- Click SAVE.
The button will appear alongside your completed form message after the document has been signed.
Show Confetti
GoSign also gives you a simple option to add a little celebration to the signing experience.
Turn on "Show confetti on successful completion" and the signer will see a short confetti animation when they finish.
If you prefer a more straightforward experience, leave it turned off.
Placeholders Cheat Sheet
When editing your email templates, you'll notice placeholders such as {template.name} and {account.name}.
These are important. Don't remove them unless you know you don't need them.
GoSign automatically replaces each placeholder with the relevant information when the email is sent.
Placeholder | What it displays |
|---|---|
| The name of the document or template |
| Your GoSign account or sender name |
| The recipient's signing link |
| A link to download the completed document |
| A link to view the submission |
| The name or names of the people who completed the document |
For example, if your email says:
You have been invited to sign {template.name}.
GoSign will automatically replace {template.name} with the actual document name when the email is sent.
Getting the Most Out of GoSign Personalization
You don't need to change every setting to get value from Personalization. At a minimum, upload your company logo and rewrite the three email templates so they sound like your business.
Pay particular attention to the placeholders. They're what allow GoSign to automatically add the correct document names, signing links, and recipient information to each email.
It's also worth enabling the Attach documents and Attach audit log PDF options if you regularly need signed documents for your records. That way, completed documents and their audit trails can arrive directly in your inbox instead of requiring you to find and download them later.
Once these settings are in place, GoSign feels much less like a third-party signing tool and more like part of your own business workflow.
